Season of Promise

For most of us, the holidays center around spending time with family. We share old stories, make new memories, and reminisce on loved ones who are no longer with us. Thanksgiving and Christmas bring families together like no other time of year. As we close out this year at Sav-A-Life, we’re thinking of the holiday season a bit differently. Through our ministry, we impact families every day — creating, supporting, and strengthening families.

This holiday season, we are focusing on the promises we make to the women and men who walk through our doors for support during a difficult time. We’re calling this the Season of Promise. A promise of hope. A promise for a strong family. A promise of a future together.

Through the hope of Jesus Christ, we can share this promise. Thank you for prayerfully considering a financial gift toward Sav-A-Life and our ministry. Together, we can help families create new memories for the holiday seasons to come.

Antwanae’s Story of Promise

When Antwanae first walked through the doors at Sav-A-Life, she was nervous and scared about a possible unplanned pregnancy. But when she arrived to take a pregnancy test in the medical clinic, she said that everyone was so welcoming, kind, and loving. When her test came back positive, she was still nervous, but everyone at Sav-A-Life helped her feel comfortable. Antwanae said, “They loved on me.”

After her confirmed pregnancy, Antwanae started participating in the Earn While You Learn program. She loved the one-on-one time she got with each instructor. She loved shopping in the Stork’s Nest, where she was able to get everything that she needed for her baby.

About 10 months after Antwanae had her baby, she found out she was expecting her second child! She was able to continue doing Earn While You Learn, and also started going to the Mommy classes on Thursday evenings. What she loves most about the program, though, is how everything is rooted in the Word of God.

Antwanae said, “This program has helped me and so many other moms, and I am so grateful for that!””

Amber’s Story of Hope

You’ll never meet someone with more joy than Amber. She’s constantly overflowing with encouragement for anyone she encounters. Things haven’t always been easy for Amber, though. As a child she endured verbal abuse at home and bullying at school. Craving self-worth and affirmation anywhere she could find it, Amber wound up pregnant when she was 21 years old.

Over a decade later, Amber was successfully raising her daughter, Chloe. Then, Amber began a relationship with a man who she’d always known to a good guy. But with the news of her pregnancy, something in him changed. He began to be physically abusive toward Amber and show anger that she’d never seen in him before.

As a scared and pregnant single mother, Amber called Sav-A-Life. She began taking parenting classes and started to feel empowered to raise both her daughter and her new baby boy. She had a community of love that she’d desperately been seeking for most of her life.

Now, a few years later, Amber is an amazing mother to Chloe and Vaughn. She truly lives a life giving back and empowering other women to see their self-worth in the eyes of God by working with Sav-A-Life, teaching the classes she was once a participant in.

Amber said, “Without Sav-A-Life, I probably wouldn’t be here. Because of Sav-A-Life, I know that I have hope.”
