In early 2014 as the result of a terminal illness, Russell Worrell was called home to be with our Lord and Savior. Russell was the founder of Sav-A-Life Vestavia’s Fatherhood Ministry, a role he served passionately over the last several years. Russell knew, just as our Father, Jesus Christ taught us, how important the father is to a family and how important the family is to a child. Russell personified the essence of Sav-A-Life's ministry calling: to help men and women embrace life-affirming decisions for their unborn child. During his tenure, Russell’s faithful labor in mentoring new fathers left a lasting legacy for both Sav-A-Life Pregnancy Test Center and our community. The Fatherhood Ministry has grown rapidly since its inception and continues to grow reaching more and more clients each year. This trend is likely to continue, especially with recent closures of abortion clinics and an ever-changing healthcare landscape.
With all this in mind, the Board of Directors created the Russell Worrell Endowment Fund which will support all ministries at Sav-A-Life for the long term. It is also a way to honor Russell’s life and legacy given the importance of family to Russell as expressed in his own words: “My heart’s desire is to raise sons who love and serve the Lord and who raise children to do the same.” A wide range of gift planning options are being made available to allow individuals to personalize a gift tailored to meet their unique needs and philanthropic interests. Memorial gifting opportunities are available to honor friends and family members as well as designated gifts in honor of Russell Worrell’s legacy at Sav-A-Life.
Our administrative office has prepared resources that can aid you in drafting a bequest or beneficiary designation that is personalized for your estate planning needs. In addition, Sav-A-Life has retained a knowledgeable representative to provide complimentary counsel and to assist our supporters interested in exploring this opportunity.
